Summary

This document outlines the procedure that must be followed in order to update your QAS Mailsort/Walksort product, for both Windows (V4.50 and V4.51) and Unix (V3.20), to the latest Royal Mail pricing structure. For further information on the pricing changes, visit the Royal Mail’s dedicated website.

PLEASE NOTE: This pricing update is only effective from the 26th October 2009. Do not apply changes for mailings before this date.

Instructions

In order to update the prices data for your Experian QAS Mailsort/Walksort product, you will need to follow these steps:

Windows

1. Download the file

Download the file RMMaster.ini and save it onto your desktop. Please note you will need to login or register to access this file.

2. Close Mailsort/Walksort

Close down any instances of Mailsort/Walksort that you may have running.

3. Rename existing file

Rename the RMMaster.ini file in your Mailsort/Walksort RM Parameters directory (C:\Program Files\QAS\QuickAddress Mailsort\Application Files\Configuration files\RM Parameters) to RMMaster_old.ini.

4. Copy over the file

Copy across the RMMaster.ini file you downloaded previously into the RM Parameters directory. This should complete the update process.

5. Delete Old User Price File

Delete the file called UserPrice.ini, if you have one. This will be made when Mail Sort is next Opened.

6. Verify the update

To verify the prices have been updated, run Mailsort/Walksort and form the Tools menu select “Royal Mail Prices”. This will present the screen in Figure 1.

Figure 1 – Royal Mail Prices screen

Please select "Royal Mail Defaults" and then select "OK" to update the Standard Tariff.

Selecting “Standard Tariffs” will open a new window listing the current mailing prices (see figure 2).

If the prices in your program match those in Figure 2, then you have successfully performed the pricing update.

Unix

1. Download the file

Download the file RMPrice.ini and save it to a known location. Please note you will need to login or register to access this file.

2. Close Mailsort/Walksort

Close down any instances of Mailsort/Walksort that you may have running.

3. Rename existing file

Rename the RMPrice.ini file in your Mailsort/Walksort RM Parameters directory (~\QuickAddress Mailsort\Application Files\Configuration files\RM Parameters) to RMPrice_old.ini.

4. Copy over the file

Copy across the RMPrice.ini file you downloaded previously into the RM Parameters directory. This should complete the update process.

5. Verify the update

The update can be verified by checking the release date at the top of the rmprice.ini. This should now read: 2009/10/26.
