FAQs - Unify
Which platforms is QAS Unify available on?
QAS Unify is available on Windows only as a standalone product. Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista Business and Windows XP Pro are all supported (32-bit only).
How do I install QAS Unify?
QAS Unify can be installed in one of two ways depending on your needs. For a desktop install running on a single machine, please use the simple desktop installer. This will install everything you need to get up and running.
There is also the option to install the QAS Unify components. This would be used when Unify is to be installed across multiple machines, and would in most cases be used by a member our Professional Services department. This is recommended when you require a high-performance deployment to cope with large volumes of contact records.
What are the system requirements to run QAS Unify?
If you are running the simple installer, there are no pre-requisites, other than the Windows operating system (32-bit only).
For the component installers you will require at least
- NET 3.5 framework (Service Pack 1)
- IIS5 or above
- SQL Server 2005 (Express or pay-for editions)
Why does QAS Unify need a database?
Unlike other products, such as QAS Batch, Unify does not use datasets. Unify compares records against your own contact data, not against PAF or any other datasets. Unify needs a database to work with your contact data.
What databases and file types does QAS Unify work with?
Unify can import and export your contact records for de-duping from a wide variety of databases through ODBC (open database connectivity). Records can also be imported from and exported to flat files (CSV), Excel and Access, amongst others.
QAS Unify does need a copy of MS SQL Server 2005 to hold a copy of your data while it is being processed.
