AUS Barcode Sort Plan (BSP) DataPlus set

The Australia BSP DataPlus set returns a three-digit BSP number for each full address, automatically allowing the easy pre-sort of mail items. Each BSP number corresponds to a set of postal codes and facilitates pre-sorting. You can pre-sort the mail using BSP codes and submit the number of mail items for each BSP code to Australia Post. By doing this, you will receive a mail discount from this pre-sorting.

To submit the number of mail items for each BSP code to Australia Post, a report known as a Manifest report is used. A Manifest report is an optional report allowing the user to obtain additional mailing discounts for pre-sorting on the basis of the Barcode Sortation Plan (BSP) code, and is specific to Australia. This report is used when submitting bulk mail to Australia Post containing over 2000 items in a single lodgement, and provides a breakdown of letter volumes and tray usage. A pre-requisite of Manifest reporting is use of the BSP DataPlus set supplied with the data. QAS supplies a Microsoft Excel template Manifest report.

Further information on pre-sorting and lodging mail with Australia Post can be found on Australia Post’s website.

Maintenance

You can download data updates and installation instructions for the QuickAddress AUS BSP DataPlus set.

PAF Update
If you are using the data installer (available for Windows), the current BSP file is automatically installed when you install the Australian country address database (PAF).

If you are not using the data installer (available for all platforms), copy the ausbsp.dap file into same directory as the Australia country database (PAF).

Interim Update
The interim data update is available with an installer (for Windows) and without an installer (for all platforms). The AUS BSP DataPlus set and installation instructions are both available for download.

Ensure that each and every data update is applied promptly, otherwise the data may expire and the product will become unusable.

If you are a customer in Australia, New Zealand or Singapore, you will be notified by email of the date when the BSP file is available for download. This will be in advance of the go-live dates of 1st April and 1st October.

If you are a customer outside the above regions, you will be notified in the preceding PAF data updates letter of the date when the BSP file will be available for download. This will be in advance of the go-live dates of 1st April and 1st October.
