QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite is a suite of address capture products designed specifically for use with mySAP™ Business Suite. The suite comprises a number of solutions (both certified and non-certified by SAP), all integrating server-side; no additional components need be installed on any client machine connecting to mySAP™ Business Suite. The QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite products have all been written in ABAP, which reference standard QuickAddress software components via an SAP Remote Function Call.

Architecture

ABAP code executed on the mySAP™ Business Suite application server(s) reference an external QAS link program, written in C, using an SAP Remote Function Call. This link program can be resident on the application server, or on a different machine accessible via SAP gateway. The link program manages all of the search requests and searches proprietary data files to perform address lookups within different countries and to return the address information. No bulk importing of address data into database tables is necessary. QuickAddress data files are platform independent binaries and can be manipulated like any other type of file. The link program and data files are joined via two configuration files which stipulate the path to the data files, the address formatting and other product configuration.

The ABAP code is supplied as a set of transports, uploaded into SAP solutions as part of the installation process. These transports hold all of the search logic that interact with the link program, as well as a QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite configuration area that covers the SAP specific product related configuration. An example of this would be the address element to SAP field mappings.

User interface and usability

QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite uses standard integration practices. A search window performs all of the address searching and displaying of address choices for the user to pick from and is designed to be in keeping with the look-and-feel of mySAP™ Business Suite. Separate interfaces are available for use through SAP GUI or through Business Server Pages.

QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite (certified)

QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite Address Service has received interface certification from SAP AG. Integrated directly into the application tier, it is a full address management solution, performing both address capture and address validation duties.

Application and platform availability

QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite is compatible with version 4.6 onwards and can be supplied for all supported mySAP™ Business Suite application server platforms and database types.

QuickAddress Data files

Address data for use with the QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite products is provided by the postal service native to that country. This data is then compressed and indexed into data files ready for use with the QuickAddress for mySAP™ Business Suite product. Address updates are shipped on CDs on a schedule set by the data supplier (e.g. for the US it is every 2 months, for the UK it is every 3 months).
