Medicare and Medicaid Opt-Out lists maintained by the CMS
The practice of physicians and practitioners opting out of participation in Medicare and Medicaid programs is a growing trend in the healthcare industry. Federal and State Medicare and Medicaid funds may not be applied towards services provided by these medical professionals.
Lists of opt-outs are maintained by each regionalized Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), typically at the state level. Experian QAS maintains a centralized, up-to-date database that, when coupled with our industry leading fuzzy matching technology, provides the most efficient and effective way of looking for CMS Opt-Outs.

List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) maintained by the Office of Inspector General (OIG)
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) maintains its own database of individuals and organizations that are restricted from receiving any federal healthcare funding provided by the United States government.
The OIG has been granted authority under sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act and may act to exclude an individual or entity for a number of reasons, among them fraud, malpractice, or waste. The OIG database of exclusions is updated regularly with new exclusions and removals for those that have been reinstated. Excluded Parties List System (EPLS) maintained by the General Services Administration (GSA)
The GSA maintains a vast database of individuals and groups that are excluded from receiving federal contracts, certain subcontracts, and certain types of federal financial and non-financial assistance and benefits.
The Excluded Parties Listed System (EPLS) provides an up to date source of information on those firms and individuals that have been suspended, debarred or otherwise excluded from Federal Procurement and Nonprocurement Programs. Users of the list are able to conduct a search by name of the excluded firm or individual.
