QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise integrates directly into the PeopleSoft Internet Application Server. It requires no components to be installed on any client machine connecting to PeopleSoft, in keeping with their zero client-footprint strategy. The QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise product comprises Java-based PeopleCode along with standard QuickAddress software components.
Architecture
Library files
Java objects, invoked from PeopleCode executed on the PeopleSoft Application Server(s), reference a QuickAddress dynamic library file (either a Windows DLL or UNIX shared object) resident on the same server. This library file manages all search requests and transmits them to a QuickAddress server component (via TCP-IP) where the searching takes place. The QuickAddress server in turn searches proprietary data files to perform address lookups within different countries and return the address information. No bulk importing of address data into database tables is necessary.
Configuration files
QuickAddress data files are platform independent binaries and can be manipulated like any other type of file. Linking the library, server and data files are two configuration files, stipulating the link to the QuickAddress server component (a server name/IP address and a port number), the path from the QuickAddress server to the data files, the address formatting and other product configuration.
Integration code
The QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise integration code is supplied as a PeopleSoft project referencing standard PeopleCode functions which access the QuickAddress library file as a set of Java APIs.
User interface and usability
QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise uses standard PeopleSoft application integration practices. A single PeopleSoft page performs all of the address searching and displaying of address choices for the user to pick from and is designed to be in keeping with the look-and-feel of a PeopleSoft application. Search prompts guide the user through the search process, virtually eliminating the need for user training.
Application and platform availability
QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise is compatible with PeopleTools 8.1x and PeopleTools 8.4x. Standard solutions can be supplied for PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne, PeopleSoft CRM, PeopleSoft HRMS and PeopleSoft Learning Solutions applications. QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise can also be supplied for all supported PeopleSoft Internet Application Server platforms and database types.
QuickAddress data updates
Address data for use with the QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise product is provided by the postal service native to that country. This data is then compressed and indexed into data files ready for use with the QuickAddress for PeopleSoft Enterprise product. Address updates are shipped on CDs on a schedule set by the data supplier (e.g. for the US it is every 2 months, for the UK it is every 3 months).
