Technical information
Designed to be easy to install and use, QAS for Ecometry is an intuitive solution that requires little training or installation overhead.
Calling QAS from within Ecometry
Typically, QAS is automatically invoked when operators are entering new records. QAS can also be used when updating and enhancing existing records. Depending on the interface used, the software can be accessed at any time via the 'Call QAS' button, hotkey F7 or selecting right clicking and from a context menu.
Once an address has been verified with a caller, the operator 'accepts' the address. At this point the operator is returned to the Ecometry screen, and the correct fields are automatically populated with the standardized address.
Integration points
Integrated within the Name Search, New Customer and Customer Maintenance screens, QAS functionality ensures complete control of customer and vendor address data throughout the Ecometry application.
Installation
The installation process typically takes less than an hour and consists of the following steps:
- Installing the QAS Server Module and Data files.
- Installing the QAS client files to the relevant Ecometry interface directory.
- Configuring the location of the Server Module for the client.
- Activating a single control switch.
The US data files and Server Module are approximately 900Mb in size and the client files are less than 3Mb.
Product architecture
The QAS UI connects to the QAS Server module via TCP/IP for accurate international address searches.
QAS data files are platform-independent binaries and can be manipulated like any other type of file. Linking the library and server is a configuration (INI) file, stipulating the address of service, which handles the address formatting, location of data files and other product configuration. Adding new country data requires only the new data files to be present and a quick configuration task on the server side. Data updates are provided bi-monthly for US and Canada and quarterly for all other supported country data sets. Data updating is carried out in a live environment without loss of address capture functionality for users.
All of QAS for Ecometry's integration code and control switches are already built in. No scripts need to be run to install data or tables into the database. As a consequence, QAS for Ecometry is database-independent.
Supported platforms
The QAS Server module is supported on all major Server versions of Windows, UNIX and Linux.
