What is address management?
Address management is the process
of ensuring that all postal address data held by your
organization is up-to-date and accurate.
Address data can be an organization's most important
asset. Keeping your address data accurate doesn't just
mean that your products or services are delivered correctly.
A correct address can be your key customer identifier,
linking all of the information held within your organization
about that customer.
Address management consists of two main concepts:
- Rapid addressing
The process of ensuring that all new addresses entered
into your database are verified and accurate at the
point of entry. In a call center environment, for
example, rapid addressing software can also speed
up accurate address entry.
- Address cleaning
The process of keeping your existing address data
accurate, up-to-date, and consistently formatted.
Over time, changes in postal/ZIP Codes, renaming of
streets etc. mean that even address data entered correctly
can become out-of-date. Address data files available
from national postal authorities can be used to update
your existing data by checking for these changes.
Business
benefits
By using a combination of rapid addressing and address
cleaning, organizations ranging from small businesses
to large international operations can make substantial
savings, and enjoy significant improvements in efficiency
and customer perception.
