Managed hosting providing savings for online retailers
Oct 6 2011, 16:47 PM
Online merchants should carefully consider switching to managed hosting for their server needs.
According to Rhianna Collier, vice-president for the software division at the Software and Information Industry Association, there are many business benefits in using managed hosting that smaller companies can use to get ahead in the difficult economic climate.
The provider deals with the day-to-day servicing of the equipment and repairs leaving smaller companies able to release vital resources to drive other parts of the business.
Ms Colier explained: "Managed hosting can alleviate the need for IT staff or, at a minimum, free them up to focus on other projects."
"For start-ups in particular, a managed hosting provider can help get the company up and running quickly without hiring additional IT staff."
According to research from Gartner, the introduction of platform-as-a-service products, such as managed servers, will be the major battleground for IT vendors in the next year.
