Inaccurate contact data troubles in higher education
Dec 2 2011, 17:11 PM
A new report from Experian QAS has highlighted the problem that inaccurate data can cause in higher education institutions.
The Higher Education Institutions and Contact Data Quality report notes that 62 per cent of colleges and universities polled by Experian maintain three or more databases.
Furthermore, 60 per cent of survey respondents believe they waste part of their financial budget on inaccurate data, caused by human error and a reliance on manual processes.
Thomas Schutz, senior vice-president and general manager of Experian QAS, explained that colleges and universities are heavily reliant on contact data.
He added: "Institutions need to put processes in place to eliminate the possibility for human error in data.
"This will allow them to become more efficient and capitalize on fundraising efforts."
Data quality expert Kiran Gill recently claimed that databases need to be regularly maintained to ensure the quality of data remains high and information is not out of date.
