CASS address standardization - QAS Online Glossary

Definition:
CASS address standardization is the process of standardizing addresses so that they follow the USPS Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS) requirements.

CASS certification is based on accuracy in ZIP codes, ZIP +4 codes, and delivery point codes. CASS refers specifically to the verification status of a contact list or address database. Address verification software can perform CASS address standardization only when it is evaluated and CASS certified by the United States Postal Service.

By adopting a CASS certified software and having a certified database, companies can receive discounts in shipping and bulk mailing costs. In addition, companies will benefit from having a verified and standardized contact database and can increase both efficiency and accuracy in bulk mailings.
