Address search by zip code - QAS Online Glossary

Definition:
Address search by zip code enables users to search for a given address, including street name and number, using only a valid ZIP or ZIP +4 code.

Typically, address search by zip code is most effective when the searcher has access to a ZIP+4 code, or the 9 digit USPS ZIP code. By including the additional four digits, an address can be narrowed down to a very specific area.

Address search by ZIP code can be done in a type down fashion, where a user types in a zip code, and is prompted to either enter more information or select a given address. This type of search is an effective means of finding a full address without having every feature of the address. Additionally, it can be very beneficial to those entering addresses on the front-end by eliminating keystrokes and increasing efficiency in recording addresses.
