Client/Server mode

Client/Server is a new generation of products for QAS, improving on the standalone architecture of past products. Using the Client/Server implementation the client only handles the input and output of the search process and does not complete any of the address searching. The searching is handled by the server which has the ability to handle multiple clients searching at the same time.

The address searching is handled on the server, to provide the ability to handle multiple clients searching at the same time.

Client/Server has the same look and feel of standalone QAS Pro. The client can be implemented using Pro "Plug & Go" or Pro API.

Benefits

Reduced network traffic: Network traffic is reduced because the data manipulation and searching required by Pro is completed on the server, and only the required search data is sent to the server

Reduced system requirements: Due to the decrease in processing and storage required for the clients, you can essentially have a "thin client" environment.

Centralized control: Many functions can be controlled globally from the administrator console including Address layouts, data updating and monitoring of search usage.

Live updating: QAS can remain running while the data is being updated. If Pro is in use, the next search started will operate using the new data

Multiple server handling: Client/Server offers the ability to have the Server "service" running on one or more machines, providing backup for users if a problem should occur on your primary server.

Currently Client/Server is available for Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT.
