Back end address checking

Batch banner image

A batch product verifies an address at the back end, typically after the address has entered the company's database. Essentially, the tool will go through and standardize addresses to the USPS® format while simultaneously making corrections to inaccurate entries. For example:

Before Batch Action taken After Batch
1801 North Main Road, Lee, MA, 01238 Standardized to USPS format, added ZIP + 4® 1801 N Main Rd, Lee, MA, 01238-9063
36 Fletcher Avenue, Lexington, MA, 02421 Standardized to USPS format, fixed incorrect ZIP™ and added ZIP + 4 36 Fletcher Ave, Lexington, MA, 02420-3720
1900 Main St., Atlanta, GA, 30318 Address is flagged as unfixable because a post-directional is needed. There are 6 Main Streets in Atlanta, and batch doesn't know which one this is Unfixable

These are just a sample of the many actions a batch tool can take. Generally, batch products are used to maximize the postal discounts for bulk mailers, but they have many limitations. In order to achieve the highest degree of address data quality possible, a company must employ a rapid addressing tool in coordination with a batch product.
